Innovative ways businesses can adapt in a post-COVID-19 world

One sector that has been badly affected by this pandemic is the country’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). With the community quarantine restrictions and additional health protocols in place, it has been difficult for establishments to operate fully.

Local businesses are harnessing their digital savvy and resourcefulness to deal with the setbacks. After all, they must adapt to survive. How can they move forward in a post-COVID-19 world?

Connect with customers through relevant content

Now is the time to form strong relationships with your customers by providing educational and relevant content.

Show your company’s core values by giving back to your community. In this way, you are supporting a cause you believe in and building up your brand authority, at the same time. Provide educational content that is in line with the product or service you offer. You can produce tutorial videos or useful infographics related to your business.

Make use of live streaming tools

Keep customers engaged in a conversation with your brand. Chat with your loyal subscribers through Facebook or Instagram Live. Collaborate with key opinion leaders and have a live Q&A session.

Try online coaching or consultations

Personal trainers and even fitness studios are transitioning to holding virtual classes so their clients can still work out while practicing physical distancing. We’ve seen this grow in telemedicine, where patients can consult with doctors remotely.

Switch up your offer

Restaurants and cafes are shifting to home deliveries and curbside pick-up while in-store dining is not allowed. Clothing companies are putting their efforts into manufacturing PPEs and masks for frontliners and general use.

Another option is to sell digital gift cards for regular customers. This will provide cash flow that can be used to pay staff, rent, and bills. This will also ensure that your customers will return to your shop.

There are plenty of creative ways that small businesses can adapt to the new normal. As customers, we must pledge to support local products and services after all of this is over.
